Birobidzhan (Russian: Биробиджа́н; Yiddish: ביראָבידזשאן) is the capital of the Jewish Autonomous Oblast in Russia. It lies on the rivers Bira and Bidzhan, close to the Chinese border and on the Trans-Siberian railway.
