Libya: Inverted Artemis
The statue of Artemis of Ephesis - godess of every living being - has bees in relief on the hips. The statue is pictured on three classical stamps of Libya (Italian occupation), 1921 - 10, 15 and 25 c.
In an Italian auction catalogue I found a curiosity, the stamp with value 15 c. Artemis is pictured inverted (- upside down) on the stamp. According to the Yvert et Tellier stamp catalogue this invert is also found on the stamps 10 and 25 c. The bid in the auction catalogue is 78 Euro.
The Yvert et Tellier catalogue states the stamps is issued in 1921.
